2014 WA Pinot Noir

It was a particularly good season across the South West of WA in 2014; a relatively mild winter followed by a good wet spring meant the vines were in great condition leading in to a warm dry summer. The good weather continued in January & February and the fruit ripened with no disease risk & with good flavour development. The small batches of Pinot that were sourced for this wine were all harvested in early March.All our Pinots are fermented in small open fermenters which get plunged by hand to gently extract the colour and flavour from the skins. Once pressed out, the wine was matured in French oak for 12 months; older barriques being selected as the WA Pinot is a fruit driven style.

AROMA

Fresh cherry fruit aromas with some light plum and redcurrant fruit characters. Has attractive �dusty cocoa� notes.

PALATE

The fresh cherry fruit characters follow on the palate with some delicious raspberry fruit flavours. This is a lighter, fresher style of Pinot with a gentle tannin structure to balance. It is dry and fruity with some good acidity; all contributing to its good persistence of flavour. 

CELLARING

To be enjoyed while quite young though will certainly handle a couple of years bottle age. Can be lightly chilled over the warmer months and served with a wide range of foods.
