2014 Cabernet Merlot

Our aim is to produce a well flavoured and approachable wine with the distinctive fruit characters typical of these two varieties from WA's fabulous Great Southern region.

We source the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes from vineyards predominately in the Mt Barker & Frankland regions of the Great Southern; these varieties being particularly well suited to that warmer climate. An excellent season in 2014 has allowed us to produce a well-structured wine with great colour and flavour.

AROMA

Beautiful dark chocolatey mint aromas, intense berry fruits with hints of charry oak.

PALATE

Loads of dark berry fruit flavours of fresh blackcurrants with some good grippy tannins which give good texture and a long, drying finish. Can be enjoyed now with a full flavoured meal or leave in the cellar for a few years for some bottle age complexity.

CELLARING

This wine has loads of fruit flavour and can be enjoyed now, especially with some good cheese and/or a well flavoured meal. With its good tannin structure it will also handle a bit more time in the bottle; it should continue to drink well and improve over the next 4 + years.
